YOGA, BARRE, and Pilates at TENNIS ADDICTION

Synergy

This class consists of approximately 30 postures.  This series systematically works the entire body.  Alignment is emphasized, muscles are strengthened and toned.  Flexibility is increased, and breathing and relaxation techniques are incorporated.  A beneficial class for all including tennis players, bringing balance to the body, and enhancing focus to help a players mental game.  A great class for beginners as well as experienced yoga students.

Gentle Strength Flow

Create Strength, stability and support for the spine and the whole body by syncing breath and movement in this flow based class.  Find energy, strength, and flexibility while staying kind and gentle to yourself.  The use of props and teacher recommended modifications actions makes this class a nice fit for beginners as well as seasoned practitioners.

Mindful Flow

In this vinyasa (an integration of movement and breath) class, movements flow from one to another, yet the practice is still accessible to a wide range of levels.  Considered a moving meditation, vinyasa classes will strengthen body and mind.  Balance, flexibility, and endurance are gained, not necessarily needed!  Some yoga experience recommended, but not a must.

Fitness, Strength and Conditioning at TENNIS ADDICTION

Strength and Conditioning (small group)

A blend of strength exercises using TRX, free weights, and other equipment mixed with a few stead state/continuous 3-4  minute cardio intervals between sets.  This class is a full body conditioning workout designed to challenge all aspects of strength and conditioning. All levels are welcome as this is a small group with timed intervals, no counting reps.

Cardio focus with strength intervals (small group)

A mix of challenging cardio intervals with strength conditioning added into each round.  This full body challenge will surely set your metabolism on fire and continue through out the day.  Want to get the most out of your time?  This is the class for you!  All levels are welcome as this is a small group with timed intervals, no counting reps.

Andi Beth Sutcliffe

Andi Beth Sutcliffe brings 18+ years of fitness knowledge to Tennis Addiction.  In addition to being an ACE Certified Fitness Trainer, she also holds National Certificates and  State License MSG009738 for Massage Therapist.  A Graduate of the Cortiva Institute (Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy) in 2007. It was her fitness background as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer with a Pilates/Yoga/Tennis background that lead her to massage therapy. “We train hard and need to respect the challenges we accomplish. Respect your body, it’s an amazing machine”.

Andi has been with Tennis Addiction for 20+ years, she is the Controller, and oversees general club operations in addition to Personal Training and Massage Therapy. Andi and her husband have two children Dane and Reece. She is always up for something new and looks forward to all of the adventures fitness and wellness present.

Julie Wagner

Julie became an ACE certified personal trainer in 2013 after years of being motivated and inspired by Tennis Addiction’s fitness pros. She has a degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Delaware and is a special education teacher. She lives in Malvern with her husband, Kyle, and enjoys running, yoga, and warm weather.

Susan Sacchetti

Yoga, Pilates, SilverSneakers

Susan began teaching fitness classes in 1990, as a certified AFAA instructor. Fourteen years into teaching various types of fitness classes, Susan was introduced to yoga, which was life-changing for her. She took to her mat for the first time after being told, “It’s a gift you will give to herself”. After practicing yoga for a few years, wanted to share this gift with others. She was Yoga Alliance certified in 2005, & actively teaches Synergy, Flow, & Gentle to all levels & all ages, from school-age children to seniors.

One of Susan’s greatest passions is working with the senior population. She has been teaching Silver Sneakers classes since 2008. “They are one of my greatest joys in life. Every day that I spend with them puts a smile on my face.”
“Fitness & yoga have become an integral & important part of my life. I believe that exercise, of any kind, is critical to a person’s physical, emotional, & mental state of well-being. It brings me great fulfillment to make a difference in the lives of so many.”

As a wife, mother of 2 daughters, & new grandmother, she loves spending time with family. She also enjoys golf, cooking, traveling, and her weekly volunteer work at a local retriever shelter where she helps to socialize & rehabilitate puppy mill dogs.

Lisa McBride E-RYT 200  Yoga Director/Instructor

Exploration of fitness through YOGA.  Lisa began 15 years ago as a student going to her first yoga class for stress relief. In 2012 she completed her yoga certification. She has taught well over 1000 hours and has worked with students of all ages. She is extremely passionate about the benefits, both physical and mental, that yoga can bring to our everyday life. Lisa says that Yoga has changed her life, and this is why she wants to help others explore the transforming benefits yoga has to offer.  She is trained in various types of yoga, including Stationary, Vinyasa Flow, and Gentle. Lisa provides creative, authentic classes that are open to a wide variety of levels.

A few words from Lisa:  “Together we create a community where self-acceptance, mindfulness, and the breath, take precedence over being able to touch your toes!  My degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Cabrini University and my certification in ChildLight Yoga are valuable assets to my approach in teaching Kids Yoga. I focus on the needs of the kids while offering a fun, physical, non-screen activity that they love!

As a TENNIS player, I love the strength building and stretching I get from yoga class.  Guiding my students to proper alignment throughout my classes can often help prevent injuries on the court. In addition, I definitely notice the benefits of improved focus and clarity, which helps my mental game! Jennifer Hallowell

Jen Hallowell began her dream of being a personal trainer and fitness instructor in 2014. She then became a certified yoga instructor after completing 200-Hour program (RYTT200) in April 2016. She is excited to add Gentle, Vinyasa, Chair and Restorative Yoga as additional fitness offerings, especially knowing there are so many benefits to the mind and body with a regular yoga practice.
At Tennis Addiction, Jen leads Silver Sneakers Chair Yoga Thursday mornings. Participants are led through the practice that includes carefully orchestrated movements, and well-measured stretches with range of motion exercises. Postures are cued in gradual steps, with plenty of time to focus on breathing and body awareness. Chair Yoga encourages individualized approach based on movement that feels right for you.

Jen hopes to share her exercise enthusiasm in a fun way and help people
live a healthier, active life!

Emily Swavely

Emily Swavely, Yoga Alliance Certified RYT 200

Emily is a Yoga Alliance Certified RYT 200, with an additional certification in Restorative Yoga.  Her approach to yoga instruction focuses on alignment, muscular strengthening and lengthening, and following the breath.  She enjoys teaching a creative Vinyasa Flow style as well as Gentle, Restorative and Yin.  Enjoy the freedom of movement accompanied by mindful breathing techniques in a safe, welcoming environment.

Weather Policy

We will follow the Downingtown Area School District Closings. If the schools are delayed due to the weather there will be no morning class, if they close early there will be no evening class, if they are closed all day no class at all. This is only in effect if it is a weather related closing or delay such as snow or ice.
